Water Works Park VBS!

Posted on June 26, 2009

A record-breaking 187+ kids packed Pequea Church for a splash-tacular Vacation Bible School. Waterworks Park was filled with attractions for kids to visit as they rode the wave of God’s love. Our auditorium was awash with excitement, as voices were lifted and many little hands were motioning to music. The children just couldn’t seem to get enough of our drama that unfolded nightly with Misty and Marlin. We learned that because God’s love finds a way, we can trust Him- no matter what happens. Misty and Marlin entertained the audience while they fished and surfed.

Next, classes rotated through various stations that were both inside and outside the church. It certainly did take a lot of adults to make this VBS a success. On Thursday night alone, 76 volunteers gave their time.

Downstairs, a craft followed the Bible lesson theme. One night at the Gift & Souvenir Shop, the kids made customized bags. You might see them make an appearance at a local pool or school sometime in the future. They were really cool. The kids did a great job designing their take-home project.

Outside was the Raging River. Here the kids had a blast with good ‘ole H-2-0 and most groups did get wet! Let’s face it; even the most mature adult becomes a kid again with a water balloon in hand. Snacks from the Snack Shack were also a big hit! One evening a “peach” boat floated on a crystal blue sea of Jell-O. At Bible Bay all ages and stages dove into the water-based Bible stories.

With a pool party completing our session, we really will have had everything we needed to have a memorable and fun-filled week. The Waterworks Park offering project will go to the children of La Montanita, Nicaragua. Children’s Pastor, Dawn Groff will be traveling with a mission team and delivering the monies.
