365 Challenge Coming January 1, 2011

On December 5 and 8 the pastors are going to be offering the entire congregation the 365 Challenge. This is a challenge to read through the entire Bible together. This challenge will take you about twenty minutes a day and benefit you for a lifetime and beyond. On the same day we will have One Year Bibles (available for a donation of $10.00) with a prescribed reading plan. The pastors will be preaching a sermon each week that compliments your reading. Please plan to join us in 2011 as we anticipate a year like no other.

What Every Christian Needs to Grow

Becoming a Christian isn’t a moment in time but a lifetime of dedication to following Christ. in this new message series Pastor Robert Brody will look at two key elements that every Christian need to grow. On April 18 and 21 Pastor Robert will teach on How to make contact with God. Every relationship relies on communication to keep it healthy Your relationship to God is no different. We’ll discuss the idea that communication is a two-way street. First we’ll look at the ways God speaks to us; through the Bible, prayer, conscience, counsel of others, dreams and visions. Then we’ll discuss practical ways to express ourselves to God; prayer in it’s various forms, worship in it’s various forms and the exercising of gifts. On Sunday April 25 and Wednesday April 28 the focus will be on how to invest your life. This second message we’ll be addressing the idea of “why” we should invest our lives, then we’ll discuss the practical ways to make it happen which go way beyond the boundaries of church ministry. Our lives should be so committed to God that ministry at church is just a natural by-product of who we are.

Join Pequea Church and Pastor Robert Brody for this two week message series starting April 18 called “What Every Christian Needs to Grow. Pequea Church offers three identical worship services. Sunday services are held at 9:00 & 10:30 a.m. and Wednesday night services are held at 6:45 p.m.

Has someone profoundly influenced your life? Maybe it is something that you never really gave much thought to, but now you see the impact more clearly. Please share your story of encouragement with us. The story doesn’t have to have a “wow” factor, just in your own words tell us about a person who might have given you an opportunity, shaped your character or challenged you to be a better person. We hope that in sharing these stories with one another we might capture just a glimpse of the real meaning of Christmas…LOVE.

To Be Known

To be known seems like a God-given desire for us all. We want people to say, “I get you. I fully comprehend who you are and I accept you just as you are ; with all your flaws. I know that you have dust bunnies in the corners of your house; I know that you have no idea how to change a tire or how to turn on a power tool. That is all right with me.”

There is such freedom in a relationship when someone truly understands you, yet challenges you to higher goals. God really does love us that much. In Psalm 139 the Bible states, O Lord, you have searched me and you know me.

So it is with the characters of Christmas: Mary, Joseph, the wisemen and the shepherds. God knew them, too. They were not just characters from a favorite story. They were real people. Take some time this Advent season to let the characters spring forth from the page and breathe new life into your faith. You will gain a better understanding of their individual struggles, temptations and triumphs. Collectively we will see how their story, God’s story, is written within our own lives.

The supporting cast of the Christmas story fulfilled their role during a part of history. God knows the main character of the Christmas story, His son Jesus. Jesus is forever typecast in History, He is the only one that could ever, or will ever, be called Emmanuel, God with us.
