Pequea Church exists to transform lost people into fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ. We challenge every believer to believe, grow, serve, and share. First you must believe in Christ. Secondly we feel that as a Christian there is constant need for growth. Thirdly we feel that as Christ followers we are created to serve whether that be inside the church or in our community. And lastly it is our desire that fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ will share with others the love of Christ to all the world.

This summer the pastoral team is offering four classes on two different dates to help you learn more about the Brethren In Christ denomination, as well as what it means to be a part of ministry here at Pequea Church. The Believe, Grow, Serve, and Share classes are designed for people who want to learn more about our objective and mission at Pequea Church. These classes are a requirement for those who want to become a member of Pequea Church. The classes will be offered on either Saturday July 24 or Saturday August 28, 2010 from 9:00 – 3:30 p.m. We do allow persons to attend individual classes in order to complete or begin working towards taking each class.

BELIEVE – 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.
GROW- 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
SERVE- 12:30 – 2:00 p.m.
SHARE- 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.

Pre-Registration has now ended but, it’s not to late for your children to attend The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything VBS at Pequea Church, where rock-solid Bible learning rides the high seas of adventure through breathtaking Bible stories, lively worship, action-packed games, amazing science experiences that reinforce Bible truth, and memory-making crafts kids will treasure for years to come. VBS will happen each night from July 14-16 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

This year will be no exception. We will be blessed to have Jessica Shaub Meyer as our auctioneer; we’ll be looking forward to a day of excitement. Some featured items will be Adirondack chairs and a swing-set and picnic table made by the youth.

Consider donating and joining us for the largest youth fundraiser of the year. A pork-BBQ dinner will be served (by donation) on Friday, May 7 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., along with an auction preview. Saturday, May 8, the auction will start at 8:00 a.m. and continue until the last item is raised for sale. Donations may be brought to the church until May 7.

For 40 Days during the months of May and June- Pequea Church will be focusing on love! Relationships are very important and no one understood this better then Jesus. For 40 Days- as a church we are going to study what Jesus did and said about relationships to help us bring new health and richness to our marriages, families, friendships and all the relationships in our lives.

Here is how you can be involved:

1. Pick up a 40 Days of Love Devotional book- called The Relationship Principles of Jesus. There is a short devotional for each day of the 40 days and we would like each person to use this as part of our journey together. Books are available in the back of the auditorium for a suggested donation of $10. If the Lord has blessed you at this time- you are welcome to give more then $10 and if you are going through a rough time right now- take the book and don’t feel that you need to make a donation. You will want the book so that you can begin the devotionals on May 2.
2. Make sure that you are here each Sunday or Wednesday to hear the message that goes along with the 40 Days of Love Journey that we are doing together as a church.
3. Sign up to be in a small group for the 40 Days of Love. The small groups will be meeting each week to view a special DVD and discuss together the relationship principles of Jesus. On Saturday, February 27, 2010 Reverend Ken Hoke will be leading a seminar on the objective, mission and vision of the church from 9:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. The leadership of the church is inviting each of you to participate in this public forum as we discuss together how best to accomplish our objective as a congregation.

Each person who registers between now and January 18, 2010 will be given the book “Who Stole My Church” to read. This book was written by Gordon MacDonald. Gordon was the pastor of Grace Chapel in Lexington, Massachusetts for 12 years. He left in 1984 to serve with World Vision, and then became president of a college-age missions organization, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. MacDonald also regularly teaches at Bethel Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in New England.

Gordon wrote this book to help us understand the development of the Christian Church over the past 2,000 years. He notes that through the ages any church that has not turned its face toward the younger generation simply ceased to exist.

The book will not be discussed in detail, but will help us understand that even as the church has progressed in her communication with society through the ages, it is still necessary to do so today.

Beginning Thursday, October 1, Pequea Preschool will begin our toddler gym program. This year we will hold two toddler gym sessions from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. & 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. each Thursday morning. Refreshments will be served in our 50’s style café between sessions from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. Toddler gym is designed for walkers to Age 3. Toddler Gym is a weekly program of play and learning for toddlers and their caregivers. We have a large gym furnished with toys, wagons, teeter-totters, push toys and more. After free playtime, there is a circle time with puppets, finger plays and songs. Toddler Gym enhances the child’s mental and social development and provides moms/caregivers with adult conversation. We provide Toddler Gym as a service to the community. There is no fee for the program, however donations are accepted. Download, print, and fill out the registration form before you arrive!
