Pequea Church is partnering with Refton BIC for VBS on five Wednesdays this Summer!
June 20, 27 & July 11, 18, 25
6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

All sessions will be held at Refton BIC, with Pequea providing additional resources. Get ready for exciting wilderness thrills as you head out to beautiful SonRise National Park! Kids will be awestruck by snow-capped mountains, thundering waterfalls, wildflower meadows bursting with color and amazing animals like soaring eagles, friendly huskies and herds of caribou. As kids explore SonRise National Park, they’ll learn the most important survival skill of all: they can always depend on Jesus and His promises of true peace, true riches, true power, true love and true hope! Years ago, hundreds of Brethren in Christ from the entire region would come to Pequea Church for the Love Feast event. They would worship together over an entire weekend! The Pequea Church Love Feast held on Palm Sunday honors this tradition and brings it into our worship environment for today. At 5:30 p.m. on Sunday April 1, we will eat a meal together followed by optional footwashing, a communion service, and heartfelt worship. The Love Feast ends with an open Faith Story sharing time. Attendees can hear and contribute stories of what God is doing among us. This event is still one of the most meaningful worship services of the year. The evening will conclude around 8:00 p.m.

You don’t want to miss the excitement in the garden when Beeatrice Bee finds herself in a panic because Mr. Caterpillar is missing, right before he becomes King of the garden. Aided by her two loyal bee friends, Bumble and Francois, she goes on a journey to find her missing King. Along the way she meets Jitterbug the dancing insect, the mysterious praying mantis and Stinky McStinkerson, the local pest who has different ideas for the future ruler of the garden. Join us for this fun tale that shows what Easter is really all about. In addition to the skit, come ready for door prizes and joining your child in filling their baskets with goodies at our annual Easter Egg Hunt! Cookies and juice boxes conclude the afternoon of fun. The excitement begins Saturday, March 31 1:00 p.m. at Pequea Church.

Pequea Church All-Stars are hosting a Lock-in for children in grades 3-5. The Lock-in will be held at Pequea Church on March 9-10, 2012. The Lock-in begins on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and ends on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. The cost is just $15.00 which covers bowling and food. On Friday, October 28, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. RAIN OR SHINE Pequea Church will premiere its newest game show “Name That Bible Story.” Wink Nightingale hosts the show in which you have to guess the Bible story based on the wacky antics of our two lovely hostesses, Eileen Right and Ima Prettyone. Join in as our three puppet contestants, Charlie, Buffalo Billski and Captain Anxiety, vie for fabulous prizes! But the contestants don’t just compete against each other; they also play against the audience. You’ll take part in our game, become part of the story, sing songs and have a great time. So come test your knowledge, interact with our show and see if you can “Name That Bible Story!” At the conclusion of the game our Pequea Puppets will sing the entire story of the Bible in one song! Can they do it? Come and find out!

Following the show families can enjoy some fun free activities; we’ll have several inflatables, including a giant slide, obstacle courses and more. Try our famous box maze, snaking its way through the gym. You’ll find games of skill, a hay ride, barrel train, face painting, food, a bake sale, and of course, bags of candy for all the kids (age 10 and under).

WEDNESDAY NIGHT MEAL-
Each Wednesday night beginning October 5 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Pequea Church will offer a meal for you and your family. The meal will cost $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for kids ages 4-11, with a maximum cap of $15.00 per family. Menus will be available soon!

CORE COMMUNITY-
Beginning Wednesday, October 5, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the Welcome Center, Pastor Jeremy Tuel will facilitate “Core Community” for adults. Every person has a core, a sense of self, an identity. What drives us as Christ followers? What makes this group of people different? And how do we work out our faith together in the real world?

Core Community is the place for you to examine these issues. Our fall-winter session includes 10 meetings titled “Living Simply in a Chaotic World.” We will spend two weeks each on five topics:

1. Living Simply
2. Being Connected
3. Encountering God
4. Making Peace
5. Following Jesus

Each week will include a time for fellowship, worship, teaching, sharing and prayer.

XTREME YOUTH-
Join teenagers  from our community each week for worship, wacky games, lessons in teen life and time with friends (in the café and the gym). Senior High (Grades 9-12) meets from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. every Wednesday. Junior High (Grades 6-8) meets from 6:30 – 7:45 p.m. every Thursday.

KIDZKNEXION-
Starting Wednesday, October 5, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Pequea Church will launch “KidzKnexion” offering programming for kids infant – Grade 5. We will offer character-building Bible stories and activities for our age 3-5 kids, and a new structure for Kindergarten – Grade 5.

K-Grade 5 programming will feature new ways to learn about Jesus and living for God. We will offer challenges and rewards for memorizing Bible verses. KidzKnexion will have creative giving projects to help the local community. Each week will also feature SNACKS!

NEW LABS- (for grades 3 through 5 running October through December 2011)

• Knot Tying
  Imagine making a knot that keeps your food away from bears, or tying off a ship at a dock or securing your tent for a blustery night. You’ll be able to do all of this and more when you come to our Knot Tying course!
• Scrapbooking
  Make a book about your life! Your photos and memories will be displayed for years to come after completing this lab.
• Painting
  No paint-by-numbers in this class. Create your own masterpieces and take them home to display on the fridge, mantle or your bedroom door!

On Labor Day Sunday September 4 we will be taking our service outside. We will have one combined service at 9:00 a.m. in the back parking lot. The service will feature guest speakers Steve & Chris Newcomer, Brethren in Christ missionaries to Zimbabwe. Their life in Zimbabwe is drastically different than our own; you won’t want to miss their perspective. Also, Tyler & Mary Williams will accompany our own worship band. Families with children infant- age 5 should sign in as usual. Children, Kindergarten – Grade 5 will sit with parents in the service until the message at which time they will be dismissed to Pastor Dawn for a special activity!

*Reserved parking will be available for seniors and special needs in the lower parking lot. We will also have Canopies/Reserved seating for seniors.

FAQ:

Should I bring a chair?

Nope. We will have chair’s set up for you!

What about the Kids?

Childcare will be provided during the entire 9:00 a.m. service for children infant – age 5. Children K-5 should accompany their parents to the worship service, before the message they will be dismissed for age specific programming. Youth & Adult classes will not meet.

What happens if it rains?

Although we will pray for good weather, if the weather is threatening we will move our service into the gym.

Due to the threat of rain we have decided to move our baptism meal to the Church. Please plan to arrive at 5:00 p.m. for a meal in the church gym. Following the meal we will make a decision whether or not to travel to the pool for the baptism or hold the baptism in the church gym.

On Sunday August 21, 2011 from 5:00 – 9:00 Pequea Church will hold an outdoor baptism and picnic at the Conestoga Pool. This free event begins at 5:00 p.m. with a Picnic, swimming and fellowship. The hospitality committee will provide BBQ sandwiches, beverages, plates, cups, silverware and napkins. Each family attending the picnic is asked to bring (1) family-size side dish AND (1) family size dessert to share. At 7:00 p.m. we will baptize in the pool. If you have not been baptized and are ready to take this next step as a believer, please fill out this form by clicking here.

Take a walk on the wild side at Kingdom of the Son VBS June 20-24, 2011! During this spectacular prayer safari kids will journey into the Serengeti – the magnificent grassland region of Tanzania and Kenya. They’ll discover exotic animals, create safari crafts, play exciting games, sing upbeat songs and enjoy delicious safari snacks! And while your kids are having safari fun, they’ll also learn to talk to God as they explore the Lord’s Prayer, and go on an expedition into the pages of God’s Word.

Each evening’s program will run from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Pequea Church.
